***”Wizard rock” is a music genre inspired by the world of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books. The music is generally indie-inspired with a DIY ethic and a humorous, whimsical spin. Los Angeles is the home of wizard rock, which is said to have begun in 2000 with local band Switchblade Kittens’ “Ode to Harry.” Whimsic Alley, Southern California’s source for all things Potter, is holding a wizard rock festival at the El Rey, featuring Alex Carpenter (formerly of the Remus Lupins), Wingardium Leviosa and more to be announced.***
Friday, February 17, 2012
Doors open at 7pm, music scheduled to start at 8pm.
Brought to you by the great people at Whimsic Alley, home of LA’s Harry Potter, fantasy-themed magic store. Be sure to checkout their website HERE for info about the store, high tea in the Great Hall, and other fantastical things!
